RSM
members around the world commemorated the Bloody Sunday massacre, from Dublin to the USA. The IRSP and RSYouth also attended
demonstrations. The murder of 14 unarmed civil rights anti-interment marchers was a watershed of Irish history, in particular
the quarter century war of liberation.
People who would later go on to found the IRSM, such as 'Red' Mickey Doherty,
were in attendance during the attack by the British Para Regiment. Red Mickey was even shot, though he survived his wounds
and actually managed to return fire.
Members made banners, flyers and represented the Republican Socialist perspective
before a largely sympathetic public.
